Natural, fat-soluble vitamin E is one of the most important antioxidants available in nature. It neutralizes free radicals, preventing the damage they cause, particularly in the organs most sensitive to oxidation - the heart and blood vessels, the skin, the brain and the hormonal system.
Vitamin E was discovered in 1922 by researchers in California who found that female rats which were fed a diet of starch, milk and yeast were not reproducing or were miscarrying their young. The male rats also became infertile. This defect was rectified by adding vegetable oils containing the missing vitamin, which they called tocopherol, meaning "I cause birth" in Greek. Natural vitamin E is found mainly in wheat germ and other cold pressed vegetable oils.

Vitamin E's potential as an effective antioxidant has been known for a long time. In recent years, however, the magnitude of its importance in preventing and dealing with various types of cancer has become clearer. Over a dozen comprehensive studies have shown unequivocally that low levels of vitamin E in the blood significantly increase (by up to 50%!!) the risk of developing various types of cancer.
Natural vitamin E prevents tissue aging and is therefore vital for maintaining the youthful appearance and suppleness of the skin. International studies conducted in recent years indicate the amazing ability of vitamin E to support heart function, to protect against heart and vascular disease and to prevent heart attacks. This vitamin is known to be essential for utilizing oxygen in the blood, tissues and muscles, protecting the blood vessels and improving blood flow.
Natural vitamin E maintains the proper functioning of the brain and helps to prevent diseases which harm the brain in later years. This fact is extremely important in view of the prevalence of diseases such as Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, senile dementia, etc.
Vitamin E is important for the proper functioning of the reproductive system and it has beneficial effects on the hormonal system. It alleviates menopausal symptoms (hot flashes, mood swings, vaginal dryness, etc.) and PMS (breast swelling, fatigue, tension and depression).
It is important to take vitamin E as a nutritional supplement because we cannot get higher doses (in the amounts required for therapeutic activity) from food alone.
Natural vitamin E is considered better and more effective than the synthetic kind because it is easier for the body to assimilate.
